Students estimated how tall the average human figure was in heads and then checked their estimates by measuring a partner
Students practiced gesture drawings to draw the human figure. Then they were able to choose whether to base their pose off a wooden mannequin, a picture of a figure or a student model posing.
Then students discovered that artists use lines, colors and shapes to communicate meaning. They then created a oil pastel resist watercolor painting using lines, shapes, colors and paktterms to convey a mood that describes how they feel when they get active.
Students decided whether to use the positive or negative space of a silhouette figure cut out to use on top of their paintings.
