Fourth graders created self portraits that conveyed personal meaning, visual texture and visual movement in a silhouette design against an analogous colored painting. They were inspired by the artist Arcimboldo who was known for this silhouettes made up of different objects. Students then created a drawing with lines, patterns, texture and images that represented them. They used lines and repetition to guide or move the viewer's eye around the picture. Then they created a pAinting with analogous colors using brushstrokes to show movement.
