5th Grade Cultural Masks

After doing research on through multiple sources on the internet and by reading books, students chose a culture of a country they were interested in and created a mask that reflected that culture in some way. They were able to choose the type of media (art materials) to use but all created paper masks. Here are some samples of student work. Stay tuned for more!

First Grade Piet Mondrian-Inspired Imaginary Animals

Students were inspired by the book, Ish to start with a line, and then elaborate on that line to create an imaginary animal.




Then after creating their animal. They added vertical and horizontal lines and added the primary colors with watercolor  in style of the artist, Piet Mondrian.

Kindergarten ABC Line Compositions

Kindergarten students identified lines in the environment then discovered that letters are made up of lines. They used oil pastels to add lines and letters. Then they added watercolors for a oil pastel resist.
