4th grade Jackson Pollock- inspired Figures in Action

Jackson Pollock's artwork^

Students learned how to measure basic human figure proportions and then used them to create a figure in an action pose of some kind of exercise they enjoy. They were inspired by Jackson Pollock's "action painting " and created their own action painting with analogous colors. Then they chose to either use a mannequin doll, sports picture or classmate as their model to help them draw. We discussed point of view and how they could write a short narrative based on the point of view of the athlete or announcer.
