First graders were inspired by the Lascaux caves in France as well as cave paintings from around the world to create their own cave paintings. Students examined symbols and their meaning in order to create their own symbols that represented them and their feelings about nature. Then students created their cave painting composition using earth tone colors with oil pastels. They signed their artwork with handprints.
